Welcome to the Walnut Creek Elementary Website!
Great learning opportunities are happening at our school every day!

A Note From Our Principal, Ms. Gunderson!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Walnut Creek Elementary, home of the Wildcats! Walnut Creek opened its doors in August of 2000.  Our school consists of about 420 diverse learners in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade.  We also have a preschool with about 30 students.

At Walnut Creek student learning is our main focus and we are deeply committed to continuous school improvement. Our staff is comprised of dedicated, hardworking individuals with a variety of unique experiences and backgrounds.  Working through purposeful collaboration our teachers, paraprofessionals, and building support staff help students to learn, be prepared for, and experience success in a constantly changing world. We are also very fortunate to have supportive and involved parents and we believe that parental involvement and support are vital factors contributing to a child’s success in school.  We invite you to join our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and become part of our team. Our Kid’s Club is sponsored by the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation and provides before and after school care.  Kid’s Club is also available in the summer.  Our amazing students are actively involved in the learning process and they continually challenge themselves to meet high academic standards.  The strong partnership at Walnut Creek between the parents, community, staff and students plays a key role in our ability to achieve excellence in education and academic success.

We value the support and input of our parents and community.  We encourage a cooperative partnership with the school and the families we serve.  Please feel free to visit our school and to become a part of the Wildcat tradition.  If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at 402-898-9630 or agunderson@paplv.org

Snow Make Up Days
Scheduled for
May 23rd and 24th
With currently having missed four days of school due to inclement weather, it has been decided that two snow days will be made up to compensate for missed instructional time.  The school year will now be extended through May 24. This will make May 22nd and May 23rd full days of school and May 24th, the last day of school, a half day. In an effort to protect vacation plans for both students and staff, there is no plan to utilize spring break to make up for snow days. May the sun keep shining!

 From the Principal
In an effort to help our students become more independent , please drop you child off at the school doors and allow them to navigate the way to their classroom on their own.  If you have a special circumstance that requires you to escort your child to the classroom in the morning, you MUST stop by the front office to sign in and get a visitors badge.  Thank you for assistance with this.
