Welcome to the La Vista West Elementary Website
Appropriate Dress For School
As the temperature rises
students become excited to wear shorts and other warm weather clothing. Please
see the information below from our Elementary Handbook regarding student dress
at school. Children should dress
appropriately for school and the weather conditions. Parents should decide what
clothing best fits the season and the family's personal tastes. A child wearing
clothing that is in bad taste, offensive, disruptive to school activities, or
advertises alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs will be asked to return home and
change in to acceptable clothing. Clothing items considered to be disruptive
to the classroom climate include such items as tank tops, short shorts,
"bike" shorts, halter tops, or "gang" apparel. Every
school is climate controlled and is comfortable year round for normal clothing.
Appropriate shorts will be allowed throughout the school year. Parents should
mark all outer clothing (coats, boots, etc.) with some form of identification.
