PLSD Number One in Nebraska Class A School Districts on State Writing!
Students in the Papillion-La Vista School District (PLSD scored number one on the statewide writing test for 4th 8th and 11th grade when compared to all Class A school districts in the state. This is a huge accomplishment and the results are credited to a very hard working staff. The state writing test has been around for 4th grade students since 2001. It is given annually to all Nebraska students in 4th, 8th and 11th grade. This year, the test for 8th and 11th grade was changed to an online format and the scoring and proficiency targets were revised making the test more challenging. Even with the higher standards the 8th and 11th grade students out- performed their Class A counterparts and scored 18 points above the state average.
The elementary school scores ranged from 94% proficiency to 100%. Three elementary schools scored 100%. Golden Hills Elementary scored 100% for the third year in a row. Parents should be proud! Writing has been a focus in the PLSD and the results of that focus are reflected in the scores.
