The Papillion-La Vista Board of Education
The Board of Education consists of six members elected by the residents of the Papillion-La Vista School District.  Three members are elected every two years to serve four-year terms.  Board of Education members are elected at large, which means each member represents the entire school district.  Pictured above are the members of the Papillion-La Vista Board of Education.
 
Responsibilities
The Board of Education is responsible for representing the community in governing the schools.  Some of the Board’s responsibilities are to:
•Establish policy.  Policies are implemented and supervised by the school administration.
•Employ and evaluate the superintendent of schools.
•Approve the appointment of teachers and staff members upon the superintendent’s recommendation.
•Secure money to operate schools, including authorizing expenditures and building programs.
•Work with administration to determine District standards and goals.
•Interpret the needs of the community regarding the educational program.
 
Board Meetings
Board of Education meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.  Board meetings are held at the Papillion-La Vista Schools Central Office Board Room, 420 S. Washington St. Agendas are published in the legal notices section of the Papillion Times the Thursday before each meeting.
 
Public Participation
Public participation is welcome at all Board of Education meetings.  To speak at a Board meeting, please call (402) 537-6207 or you can attend a Board meeting and speak at the appropriate time on the agenda.
