Papillion-La Vista English Language Learner Program
The English Language Learner Program (ELL) in Papillion-La Vista is designed to teach skills and strategies that improve the reading, writing, speaking, and listening of non-English speaking students or students whose first language is a language other than English.

In order to meet the unique needs of each student, ELL offers a continuum of services. ELL services are delivered in the classroom and in pullout sessions through the use of sheltered instruction, content-based ELL, reading support, and language acquisition support. At the high school, Papillion-La Vista collaborates with Ralston Public Schools to provide a Newcomer Program for students who have recently arrived in the United States.

Papillion-La Vista operates ELL sites at G. Stanley Hall, Golden Hills, Parkview Heights, Tara Heights, Carriage Hill, and La Vista West elementary schools. ELL support is also provided at Papillion Junior High, La Vista Junior High, Papillion- La Vista High School, and Papillion-La Vista South High School. ELL teachers communicate regularly with parents, and students exit the program when assessments and teacher recommendations indicate that they can be successful in school without English language support.

For more information on the ELL program, please contact the program coordinator,
 Kate Damgaad.
