What Is An Internships?
Internships give students the opportunities to experience first hand what a potential career may be like. The PLSD partners with a local business and students are immersed in the business setting.
Where Can Students Currently Intern?
    Papillion Times where students will learn the various departments and jobs within the industry of journalism. Students may have the opportunity to do copy editing, reporting, graphics, layout and design, photography, advertising, and printing/publishing.
    Sarpy Chamber of Commerce where students will gain experiences in the field of public relations and community involvement. Students will learn about newsletter content, updating membership lists, contacting chamber members, updating information, organizing and coordinating events, taking reservations for activities, answer phones and much more.
    Dream IT DO IT is for students interested in the trade industry. During the course portion of the internship students will be exposed to a variety skills associated to careers in the trades. With successful
completion of the course work students will have an opportunity to intern with a Dream IT DO IT Business during second semester.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must complete an application and be selected to participate.
Must be a junior or senior in the fall.
Must have a interest in pursuing a career in journalism (Times Internship), business or public relations (Chamber Internship) or trades (Dream It, Do It Internships).
Must have a good attendance record.
Location: Papillion Times Internship: 604 Fort Crook Road N, Bellevue
Sarpy Chamber of Commerce Internships: Shadow Lake Town Center, 7775 Olson Dr., Suite 207, Papillion. Dream It Do It: TBD
Time: Times Internship students will work 3 hours/day; M-T (production) W-F (field).  Chamber Internship students will work 2-3 hours/day,
Monday through Friday.  Flexible. Dream It Do It: 1-4 p.m. Mon.-Thur.
Transportation:  No. Students must provide their own transportation. The businesses will reimburse for on-the-job activities using own vehicle.
Cost: Metro Community College Credit for Dream IT DO IT
Credits: Two high school elective credits per semester.
Pay: This is a non-paid internship.
How do I apply?
To apply for a PLSD Academy program, students must complete an online application which can be found at Applications for the 2015-2016 school year will be available from November 4-11. Beginning on the evening of November 4, students will need to log in to the District website and then navigate to the academy application. It will be a flyout under the maroon bar "academy programs." The application form will time out after 30 minutes. The academy questions have been provided under Academy Programs - How to Apply so students can write their essay questions ahead of time and then copy and paste into the application.
