La Vista Junior High Students Compete in SkillsUSA Conference


Recently, members of the SkillsUSA Club at La Vista Junior High competed at the third annual Middle School Conference.  SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  This once a year conference for middle school students was held at the Metropolitan Community College- south campus and is designed to introduce opportunities at the high school in their near future. 

Attending the conference this year were six schools with over fifty students from the metro area and beyond.  Students had fun competing in a variety of contests.  Results for La Vista Junior High students were as follows:

Mousetrap Vehicle Long Distance:  1st place Jace Armstrong and Michael Albracht

Quiz Bowl:  2nd place Cole Wilson, Jake Sykera, Jace Armstrong, Michael Albracht

Power Point Presentation:  2nd place Heather Sluga and Olivia Smith

                                                3rd place Jade Delarosa and Vaeda Orfe-Smith

Mouse Traptor Pull:  3rd place Reagan Weaks

Bridge Building:  4th  Tanner Schlapia and John Barcelona
