March 5 Reading Celebration @ LVW 6:00-7:00 pm
Dr. Seuss's Birthday & Read Across America Week
It’s that time of year where we celebrate READING. NEA's Read Across America is
an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child
in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved
children's author Dr. Seuss. We will
celebrate all week by having a “featured” Dr. Seuss book each day.
March 2— Featured Dr. Seuss Book:
Fox In Socks
different socks or crazy socks
March 3— Featured Dr. Seuss book: Green Eggs and Ham
March 4— Featured Dr. Seuss book:
My Many Colored Days
favorite color or a color that represents you!
March 5—Featured Dr. Seuss book:
color yellow, like the mustache of the Lorax.
Yellow is also the color we will wear to celebrate The Lemonade War
book with our READING CELEBRATION IN THE EVENING from 6:00-7:00 pm at LVW.
March 6— Featured Dr. Seuss Book:
The Cat in the Hat
white and black like the Cat in the Hat.
It is also an LVW spirit day!
Celebration Night, March 5!
We hope you have enjoyed reading The
Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies as part of our “One Building, One Book”
event. We still have one more week to
read and turn in our question coupons!
On Thursday, March 5 from 6:00-7:00
pm, ALL LVW families are invited to
attend a Reading Celebration Night. Even if you did not read the book, you are
invited to participate in activities related to the book and also hear from the
classroom teachers how they are teaching vocabulary development in the
classrooms. They will give you helpful
strategies and activities for supporting your child with vocabulary development
From 6:00-6:30, all K-2 students and
their families will go to the classrooms for a vocabulary experience. At that time, all 4-6 grade students and
families will go to the gym for some lemonade fun! At 6:30, grades 4-6 students and families
will go to their classrooms for a vocabulary experience while the younger
students come to the gym for lemonade fun!
We hope you will join us for a
reading night to remember!
THANK YOU to Oriental Trading
Company for providing the prizes for the drawings this year!
Kindergarten Roundup March 6
roundup will be held Friday, March 6, to provide La Vista students and parents
with the opportunity to visit the building and get to know the teachers.
This chance for open communication between parents and teachers is very
important for making a student’s first year of school a successful one.
If you have a pre-school child who will be 5 on or before July 31, 2014, please
contact your school secretary, Trish Foster (402)898-0463 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
with your information.
