Papillion-La Vista School District New Staff Induction Program

The purpose of the Papillion-La Vista School District (PLSD) New Staff Induction Program is designed to provide personal and professional guidance that is differentiated and balanced for all new staff members in an enriched collaborative environment. 

The goals of the program are:

  • Insure a smooth transition of new staff so students have a masterful teacher in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Enhance retention of new and current staff and provide professional growth opportunities.
  • Clarify and articulate the roles and responsibilities of current staff as new staff are being brought in. 

The program process is:

1st Year New Staff One-to-One Mentoring
        All Papillion-La Vista School District new staff members are provided a mentor who provides them with professional guidance and support during their first year with the District. Each new staff member and their mentor are led by their building’s MODEL Team which are supported by the Literacy Facilitator, Department Leader, and Building Administrator. They also receive additional guidance from the District Office, Human Resources and Curriculum and Instruction departments.

1st Year New Staff Professional Development
        All Papillion-La Vista School District new staff members are provided professional development during their first year with the District. Professional development opportunities consist of:

  • Professionalism in Education Sessions
  • Classroom Goals Setting Sessions
  • Special Education and Differentiation Sessions
  • Elementary Curriculum and Instruction Workshops
  • Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Workshops
  • Technology Workshops

 2nd Year New Staff Career Development Plan
       All Papillion-La Vista School District second year new staff members are provided a Career Development Plan (CDP) to help them develop and achieve their professional and personal goals.
